LEE BUL: ON EVERY NEW SHADOW
Lee Bul

Distributed on behalf of the Fondation Cartier, Paris

An ambitious new sculptural installation specially created for a Paris exhibition

Based in Seoul, Lee Bul is a leading figure within a new generation of contemporary Korean artists. Her practice embraces sculpture, performance, video, and interactive media. Lee Bul began her career in the late 1980s and came to international prominence a decade later with her high-tech sculptures based around mythical monsters and futuristic cyborgs. Her latest works, inspired by visionary architect Bruno Taut (1880–1938), evoke a beautiful landscape of metal and glass.

For her exhibition at the Fondation Cartier, the artist has envisioned a gigantic installation made of crystal beads and aluminum that fills the whole of the transparent galleries of the Jean Nouvel–designed building and overflows into the garden.
